Joseph Manutti

Born in 1974 in Brooklyn, NY, Joe Manutti began developing his artistic talents at a very young age.  An intense fascination with Hanna-Barbera, comic books and album covers led him down an imaginative and illustrative path.  Years of involvement in New York City's spray-can art scene greatly influenced the bold graphic nature and color theory applied to his work, which would later be refined through formal, classical training in the fine arts.  His current work features an energetic, expressionistic style of painting, more "near abstract" than abstract, alluding to imagery and form to bring his compositions to life.  While this is the main stable of his work, Joe has become increasingly interested in the Kustom Kulture art scene where he enjoys the intense, bold, personality-rich style of art that is reminiscent of the original influences that prodded his interest in art so many years ago.  He can now be found working as a tattoo artist in NYC’s Fineline Tattoos in Manhattan’s Lower East Side, or showing his other works at various galleries...and he's always interested in a good bull-shit session, so drop on by and say "hi!" sometime!
